WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT - BUY YOUR TICKETS TODAY!!!

Greetings!

It seems that Spring is playing Peek-A-Boo with us, as we seem to see glimpses of it for a short time and then BAM! back to cold, wet weather!!

I, for one am getting tired of this. How about stringing together at least a few days of nice weather in a row so that we can get some work done on our yards and enjoy some sunshine?!?!

We have had another successful week of activity on the reunion website, with more people registering again this week and more photos posted. Sue (Walkom) Eagleson and I are hoping to get the remainder of the class photos posted within the next couple of weeks so keep an eye on the website for progress on that front. Dan Foster has been busily posting Teams and Clubs photos as well as yearbook candids and with the exception of a couple of small glitches, great headway has been made in that area. Thank you, Dan!

Among those who have registered on the website this week are Betty Brisley, Kerry Vandesompel, Alicia Myers, Dawn Irwin, Lance Babcock, Roger McClatchey, Paul Beaman and Gaylene Willder

Lost Alumni

Of our "lost alumni" list of last week, the following people have been located:

Paul Walters
Al Ytsma
Paul Beaman
Roger Van Bastelaar
Carmen Edgell

This week, we are looking for the following people:

Laura MacRae
Susan Gilbert
Jill MacFarlane
Margo Baughman
Gloria Blonde
Gary Labadie
Janet Baird
Kim Brown
Heather Haskell
Amy Arnold
Betty Kosopoulos
Ruth Ann Daeschle
Lisa Jaeggin
Kristen Russelo

Please help us to locate these people.

12 Weeks To Go!

We are now just under 12 weeks from our reunion weekend. I am starting to get calls from people asking why so and so has not purchased their tickets, even though we have their contact information and they seem to be participating in the lead up activities. We have made a number of telephone calls and continue to do so, and even though this is producing results and people are buying their tickets, we are still getting a number of people who tell us that they are coming but have not yet purchased their tickets.

What is holding you back? What can we do to help you make your decision to purchase your tickets now? I see, first hand, that there are people wanting to come to this reunion but they are waiting for other people to buy their tickets first, and we have got to break this log jam!

I am even running into this with teachers!!

When we were approached by the teachers about facilitating their first "official" teachers reunion within our reunion, we welcomed the idea as a great way to boost attendance by staff and alumni. We have discounted the ticket price for teachers and their spouses and are even providing a complimentary wine and cheese gathering for those who have purchased their tickets and have agreed to attend.

Enthusiasm is high, but so far, we have sold tickets to only four staff members. We are working hard to provide you with a venue for your reunion, but it will only work if you make the commitment to attend. Please make the commitment and buy your tickets. Your fellow staff members as well as your former students are very much looking forward to seeing you at the reunion!

How To Buy Your Tickets

Tickets may be purchased online or by mail from this page - http://www.tecumsehreunion.com/Tickets.htm. There is a drop-down menu that will allow you to make the selection of the ticket package you would like to purchase. If you are alumni, you can select from the alumni packages or if you are staff, you can select from the discounted staff packages. You can also choose to attend only Friday or Only Saturday events. It should be noted that Ticket prices are for Friday night at the Capitol Theatre and Saturday night dinner dance featuring "Friends". All other events are admission free.

Experience tells us that the bulk of tickets for an event such as this are sold in the 8 - 10 weeks preceding the event, but with the number of people we are expecting to come to the reunion, it is a good idea to get your tickets early and get your friends on board so that everyone knows that you are coming!

Who's Coming?

Among this week's ticket buyers were Philip Wilson and Toni Benning (another Class of 76'er). Class of '76 continues to ring up totals, and I can tell you that it is not me making the phone calls to solicit the ticket sales...it is word spreading that others have made the commitment to come that has energized this group.

You can start the same momentum with your group by getting your tickets today!!

This week's word from our Treasurer, Sue Cummings:

"Several alumni and one staff member purchased their tickets this week. Check out the attendees to date by looking at the “Staff and Alumni“ list of names on the website at http://www.tecumsehreunion.com/Secure/Class%20List.asp. There`s plenty of “buzz” out there! Tickets can be purchased online or by cheque and sent to : Tecumseh Reunion, c/o Sue Cummings, 142 Canterbury St., Chatham ON N7L 3S7.

DECORATING COMMITTEE

This committee had a very productive meeting today. They brainstormed lots ideas to transform the Kinsmen Auditorium into a very inviting venue for our dinner and dance. If you have any suggestions, please pass them along because all ideas are gladly welcome!"

Response to Avril's "Geriatric Throwdown"

A number of responses came in last week regarding Avril's "Geriatric Throwdown" and one that I would like to share with your is as follows:

"I would like to take Avril's Geriatric Category challenge or at least meet it. I have two knee replacements so perhaps Avril, you and I could become the bionic twosome. I also wear bifocals and need cheaters for the computers. I walk with a cane who I've named Chester. I just have enough gray hair to make me look distinguished.

I also read in that part of the newsletter about people talking about accomplishing their life's goals. When I first heard about the reunion I asked myself a similar question, but then I got thinking of all the things I've accomplished ( I don't want to give away to much here) and who I've become. No, you may have not reached the goals you set in high school, but I bet you have reached many goals as you have journey through life. Come and share them with us.

We were a small close knit high school and after all these years it would be great just to reunite with you. Looking forward to seeing you at the reunion.

Debbie Vellinga"

Dance To The Music!

We are now taking votes on the favorite for the last song of the evening at our Saturday night dance. It has come down to a run-off between "Hey Jude" by the Beatles and "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin. Some have asked how it is that we are only voting on these two songs and the answer is simple...for a number of months we have been receiving requests for songs to be placed in the playlist for the Saturday night dance. By an overwhelming margin, these two songs have been the most requested, earning them the right to compete for the top spot of last song of the evening.

By selecting one song over the other, this does not mean that the other will not be played - au contraire! It will be played at a significant time in the evening as well but not as the last song. Please make your selection known to us either by returning this email or by making your selection on the Facebook page.

We are also still receiving requests for songs for the playlist. So far, our playlist suggestions by those who have purchased tickets are as follows:

Correction From Last Week

Last week, I announced that we had received a donation of a VIP tour of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It turns out that this tour will not be available to us because of planned construction due to begin right after our reunion, so they have upgraded their donated prize. As an upgraded substitution, they have offered us in exchange, a "Headliner" membership package, which consists of the following:

  • Unlimited free admission for one year plus one guest each visit

  • Members-only t-shirt and decal

  • Invitations to members-only events and exhibit previews

  • 10% discount on Museum store and online purchases (excludes sale and memorabilia merchandise)

  • Subscription to Liner Notes, the official Museum publication

  • Advance email notification and preferred seating for selected Museum events and exhibit openings

This is their Top of The Line Membership, short of those who annually contribute $1000 or more to the Rock Hall. This is a great package and gives the recipient unlimited use of the membership for a whole year. I have an inductee membership, so I don't even get my name on the wall!

This is a prize well worth attending the reunion for! Tickets for this great prize will be sold the weekend of the reunion and drawing for this prize will take place on Saturday night at the dance - July 23. There will be many more great prizes given away at our Saturday Night Event and more are coming in regularly.

Next Committee Meeting

The next meeting of the organizing committee will take place this coming Saturday. If you would like to help out on a committee or are interested in helping out on the weekend of the reunion, please let us know. You can reply to this email and we will pass your name along to the appropriate committee.
