SUNSHINE ON MY SHOULDERS MAKES ME HAPPY
It is nice to finally see the sun shining and much of the snow gone. It would be nice to have the heat turned up a little bit more, but after the winter we are trying to finish up, I will take this!
We spent much of the week loading our truck and trailer for our semi-annual Chicago Jukebox and Nostalgia Show, so I have not had much time to moderate Facebook activity, and I will be leaving for Chicago later today and returning a week from Monday, so my access to the internet will be limited. I would ask that if anyone feels like stepping forward and moderating the Facebook activity, we would welcome your effort.
Spring and Facebook
With spring finally starting to happen, activity on the website and on Facebook has been a bit less than normal, however we still have registrations coming in and tickets are still selling. Earlier this week, I posted the following statement on our Facebook page:
"Ok, folks - if we are going to have a great reunion, we have got to get your commitment to attend...
A lot of hard work is going into putting this reunion together. Please support our effort and buy your tickets now so that everyone will know that you are coming and will buy their tickets too!"
Among other things on the Facebook page, we have been recalling and completing song lyrics from the 70's. Some of these songs have led to interesting discussion while others have populated some people's heads with a tune that just won't go away - that song you just can't get out of your head...
3 1/2 Months left!
With only 3 1/2 months left before our reunion, we really need to kick this effort into high gear and find our lost alumni, make them aware and get commitments from those who intend to come to our reunion.
With as many tickets as we have sold so far, which is an impressive number this far in, we have at least that many again that have expressed their intention to come to the reunion but have not purchased their tickets. I hate to keep hammering this point, but if you want a successful reunion, we need your help. Please buy your tickets now, rather than waiting. This will encourage others to follow suit and therefore assure us a great weekend.
Among others, Ginnie Sands (1973) and JoAnn McCready (1976) were some of the most recent purchasers of tickets this week.
Allan Tayles sent me an email this week expressing his intention to purchase tickets soon and he tells me that Bill McCready will be coming along to the reunion as well!
Tecumseh Reunion in The Chatham Daily News
An article was written and submitted to the Chatham Daily News promoting our reunion, and aside from a few glaring spelling errors, some factual inaccuracies and incorrect dates, somehow lost in the editing and rearranging of the story, we did get some very good press! The story talks about the first ever teachers reunion, our Thursday night event at the Players Club with Blutonium, our Friday night movie viewing and reception at the Capitol and our crowning event on Saturday night, featuring the reunited 70's local band, "Friends."
The article took up most of the second page of the newspaper and overall, I am pleased with it. Once I have a good scan of it, I will post it on the website for all to see.
The article also talks about our efforts to contact people and how ticket sales are going, and it features a very nice photo of Eric Stang, Rick Gosnell, Clare Wiersma and Andy Ramsz showing off their newly installed totem pole in the entryway of Tecumseh.
Last week's "lost alumni" list did not bear much fruit, other than a couple of leads to locate Betty Jenner, however we continue to look for these and others from our past newsletters. I would encourage you to go over our past newsletters, especially if you are new to this group. Take a look at them and if you know where anyone is from our lists, please let us know. All of our past newsletters may be found at http://www.tecumsehreunion.com/Newsletters/Newsletters.htm.
This week's "lost alumni are as follows:
SHERRY ANN LUNIGAN
Please help us to find these people. If you have contact information for anyone on this list, please send it to Scott@Tecumsehreunion.com and we will be sure to add them to our "located alumni" list.
You can also check out our class list at http://www.tecumsehreunion.com/Secure/Class%20List.asp. Look for people with ** next to their names. If you see that, we have some information for them, but not necessarily all information. If you are able to help us to locate any of the people with limited information or none at all, please click on the name and enter all of the known information. You should know that the information form is manually added to the website so any information submitted on that form does not get posted on the site immediately. You should also know that when we receive these forms they do not refer to the name of the person you are submitting information for - they are a generic form, and we get only what you submit to us, so PLEASE include all of the information you have INCLUDING the person's name.
We have had people ask us if they can bring guests that are not Tecumseh alumni, and the answer is yes. This will be a great party and the more, the merrier!
Songs for Saturday Night Dance
Our song list for the Saturday night dance is getting longer, but I thought it would be interesting to hear from you about the songs you least want to hear at a high school dance. I will start a list of those songs that we should stay away from and hopefully this list will not cancel out our other "must play" list. You can submit your least favorite songs by replying to this email or sending them to Scott@Tecumsehreunion.com. We can have some fun with this.
Want to Contribute to the Newsletter?
We are looking for contributors for our newsletter. If you have any anecdotes or anything else that you think would be interesting for our newsletter, please send them to me at Scott@Tecumsehreunion.com and we will do our best to include them in the newsletter. It might be nice to hear somebody's perspective other than my own from time to time.
This past week, we had a new star shining in the trivia challenge. Although Dan Foster aced the challenge this week, Toni Benning was close behind with 8 out of 10 correct answers. Congratulations to both of you. BTW, I heard from Toni this week and she tells me she is buying her ticket in the next few days!
The answers to last week's trivia challenge were as follows:
All the best,
