I'VE GOT TO ADMIT, IT'S GETTING BETTER
...a little better all the time...
I don't know about you, but I am starting to get confused with this lead up to spring...one day it's warm and the snow melts, by the end of that day we have more snow than we started with! I am getting sick of it and I am ready for spring - How about you!!
Registrations and Ticket Sales
We have just over 4 months until our spectacular weekend of fun and reconnection and it appears that we are very close to the critical momentum we are looking for. Registrations on the website have taken off, with numerous registrations coming in each day. We have jumped by nearly 50 registrants this week alone!
Ticket sales are also going very well. In a very short time, we have sold over 100 tickets, thereby achieving our first objective! Now on to the next 100!!
The top three class years are listed in order of numbers of tickets purchased"
1976 has still over double the tickets sold of any other year, then
1977 and 1980
Other years are very close behind. Please help us to make sure your year is well represented by buying your tickets today! Tickets can be purchased online using our secure server at www.Tecumsehreunion.com/Tickets.htm.
To see who has registered, you can go to our website at http://www.tecumsehreunion.com/Secure/Class%20List.asp and check out the names. Anyone with a double asterisk ** next to their name has some sort of contact information attached to them. Out of 2160 people we are searching for, we have so far located the whereabouts of 522 - a very impressive number considering we have only recently has the organizing committee started our commitment campaign. This campaign is an effort by those on the committee and others to locate and make contact with as many former Tecumseh Students and Staff as possible. For those already contacted, the emphasis is on encouraging them to make the commitment to join us the weekend of July 23 by buying their tickets right away. As I have said in the past few newsletters, it is activity that creates activity as more people with come on board as they see their friends stepping forward. Buy your tickets today and then help us to find your friends and bring them to the reunion.
Help Us Locate People!
It is in your best interest to help us to locate people because the more we find and bring on board, the more successful YOUR reunion will be. I got an email early on, from a person suggesting that they may not come because they don't recognize the names of the people posting on the Facebook page, so therefore, he surmised - there will be nobody he knows at the reunion. My response is that there were many from his class and era sitting on the side, watching what was going on - and even more who are registered on our website and do not even have Facebook. Furthermore, there is nothing stopping him from helping us to make this reunion better for him by locating and making people aware. The same could also have been said by his peers about him, as he has never posted to the Facebook group himself.
Please get involved!! There are lots of things that we are doing to locate people, but in the end it is all about networking and talking to people. If you just sit there and wait for it to happen, then you may wonder why it is that your peer group is not there while everyone else's is. Please participate in the effort. This is YOUR reunion!!
Some of the many people who have registered this week include:
Mary Anne King
Of the list we posted last week of people we were seeking, the following were located by you and added to our list of contacts:
This week, we are looking for the following people:
This list represents one person from each class year. Please help us by locating and providing us with their contact information (email and/or phone number) so that we may include them in our weekly email newsletter!
Do you know of anyone on our list who now goes by a different name, either by name change or marriage. Please help us by providing that information to us as it will help us to locate these people. If you know which city, if nothing else - that they live in, that would be helpful.
Class of 1970
We are starting to locate more class of 1970 alumni. This is a good thing, but we must continue to search for them, so that class of 70 will be well represented at the reunion. If you know anyone from class of 1970, please make them known to us.
"Birthday" Field Added to Registration Form
We have added a "Birthday" field to the registration form. Please send us your birthday and we will recognize it in our newsletter and on the Facebook group. Many people have expressed their amazement at how many people have reached out to say hi to them on their birthday, when we have recognized it!
Flying Solo - You are not alone!
It should be known that whether you come with your spouse or fly solo that weekend, you will be in good company. There is a good mix of people who will be there without their spouses as well as many who are bringing their significant other to enjoy our weekend of fun and reconnection!
Schedule of Events
For those who have found it hard to find the weekend's schedule, we have added a button to the main website page at www.Tecumsehreunion.com called "Schedule". The URL for our Schedule page is www.Tecumsehreunion.com.Schedule.htm.
Would you like us to set up a Facebook account with locked down security so you can participate in the group discussion? We have had a number of people come to us asking about participating in the Facebook page. There are some who would like to see what's going on in our Facebook page, but do not want their "stuff" out there for the world to see. We can help you to set up a Facebook account and lock down your security so that you are only visible to those with whom you choose to be, and our reunion community if you wish. If you would like us to help you with that, you can contact myself at Scott@Tecumsehreunion.com or Dan Foster at Dan@Tecumsehreunion.com and we will be happy to set up your account for you. If you go to Facebook, you can find our group by typing in the search bar, "Tecumseh Secondary School Class of 70 - 80 Reunion"
Our Facebook group activity has been tremendous. More and more people are joining every day and the discussion and reminiscences are "off the hook" fun! This week, much of our discussion revolved around photos of Mrs. Stevens (with child), identifying those in the gym, writing exams, just by looking at the backs of their heads and remembering the Red Barn! It seems that nearly everyone who went to Tecumseh worked at the Red Barn!!
Class of 1971 "Pre-Reunion" Warm-up
Class of 1971 has decided to assemble for a "Pre-Reunion" warm-up and reconnection. This 40th anniversary mini-reunion of the class of 1971 will take place on June 4th around 2:00 at the covered pavilion in Springbank Park, in London. Quizno sub sandwiches will be delivered at around 4:00.
The cost for members of class of 71 is $10. per person and any leftover cash will go to United Way. Hopefully, by the time Class of 71 has assembled, they will all be on board with our spectacular weekend of reconnection with the entire 70's decade of staff and alumni! For more information, you can contact Bob Ripley at Bob@Tecumsehreunion.com.
