Reunion Newsletters

I hope you all had a great Holiday Season and that everybody got out of it what they had hoped for!
In my last email to you, I laid out the plan for our upcoming reunion and asked for people to help with our committee.  I am pleased to announce that we have put together a great group of people to join the already formed reunion committee and that we will be holding our first meeting of the expanded committee this coming Saturday, Jan 8.  The date of the reunion is set for the weekend of July 23, 2011.

At this meeting, we hope to determine our projected numbers, discuss our venue options and prices, discuss ancillary activities and we hope to nail down a ticket price.  If you have any ideas for something you would like to see done or happen at our reunion, please feel free to make your suggestion known to us.  You can send your suggestion to Scott@Tecumsehreunion.com and I will be happy to take it up with our planning committee.  Alternately, you may contact anyone on the committee that was listed last week or any of the new committee members who will be named in this email.
We have had a Facebook group set up since October ( http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_172774789405048 ) and it has been getting much activity, however we have heard from a few members that because of the pace of the discussion activity on this site, they are receiving more than what they consider to be a manageable number of email notifications from this group, typically because they do not check their email often enough to be able to keep up with the discussions.  If this is the case with you, it is very easy for you to manage your email settings for this group.

1. Navigate to the Facebook group page for the reunion - http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_172774789405048
2. Click on the "Edit Settings" button on the top right corner of the page, just under your "Home" "Profile" "Account" tabs
3. Edit your email settings by clicking on the drop down menu and selecting which types of emails from this group you would like to receive OR uncheck the "Email notifications to: your email address @ your isp" to completely inhibit this group from sending you emails.
4. Uncheck "Send me group chat messages"
5. Click "Save Settings"
This will set your email options for the Facebook group.  It will not affect your ability to receive our email newsletters, as this email newsletter will become our primary source for official communications between the reunion planning committee and former staff and alumni.

If you subscribe to Facebook, I would encourage you to go to our Facebook group and join the discussion group.  If you do not subscribe, I would highly encourage you to join, if only to participate in the "up to the minute" discussions, taking place every day on this group.  This group is fast approaching 150 members, and these are all people with whom you can more or less instantly communicate and reconnect with.  I can tell you from personal experience that many a lost and forgotten friendship has been rekindled through this group already.

We have a tremendous job ahead of us in locating and contacting former staff and alumni.  We need each and every one of you to help us in this endeavor.  Please visit the official Tecumseh Reunion website at www.Tecumsehreunion.com and take a look at the list of staff and alumni.  We have added all staff and alumni that we know of who attended Tecumseh between 1970 and 1979.  If you see any errors or omissions, please bring them to our attention.  You can email errors and omissions to Scott@Tecumsehreunion.com If you see a name with a double asterisk (**) next to their name, it means that we have some contact information for that person.  It may or may not be up to date.  Please check the information by clicking on the name of the person.  It will bring up a window with the known contact information in it.  If the information is incorrect, simply click on the "Update Information" link and enter the information for that person.  Please be sure to enter the person's name for whom you are updating or adding contact information, as this form is sent to us only as it appears to you in that window, so we have no way of knowing to whom you are referring unless you enter that person's name.  Also, if you are adding information for a person other than yourself, it would be helpful to indicate your name in the comments box at the bottom so that we may contact you if we have any questions.

The same goes for adding contact information for someone for whom we have no contact information - click on the name of the person - click on "Update Information" and fill out the form as completely as you can, then submit the form.

We have had great success with the registration page.  Many more people have registered their information at www.Tecumsehreunion.com than are on our Facebook site, so we know that our website is active and busy.  You can register your own information with us by clicking on the "Registration" button at
www.Tecumsehreunion.com and filling out the form found there.

We are still looking for people to help with organizing events and contacting people.  We would like to have people from each year contacting people from their year.  This works best because it is easier to obtain participation if the person is being contacted by a person who is known to them.  There are so many people for whom we have no contact information or very little at best.  It is of paramount importance that we work on obtaining this information so that they may be notified and kept informed as to the ongoing discussion regarding the upcoming reunion.  If you are talking to someone with whom you went to Tecumseh, ask for their email address and phone number, if nothing else.  If we have this information, we can then add them to our alumni group and we will automatically send them an email invitation to attend the reunion along with a synopsis of the planning activities so far.

This is our official website.  Currently, it is being maintained by myself.  I have been training Dan Foster in the authoring and administration of the website.  If anyone else has website authoring experience and is interested in helping build and maintain the website, please contact me at Scott@Tecumsehreunion.com .

We also need people to scan and crop photos for the website.  If you have working experience in Photoshop, we would love to have you help us crop and size images for the website.  You can contact me at the above email address and I will be happy to distribute some of the tasks to you.

Many pictures have been added to the website and many more are going up as time allows.  Keep watching the website for updated photo sections.  We are encouraging people to send pictures that we will post on the site.  You can send them to Scott@Tecumsehreunion.comPlease visit the site and add your comments AND contact info to the site so we can keep you updated on our plans.

The trivia page at http://www.Tecumsehreunion.com/trivia.asp is up and running!  Each week, you will find 10 trivia questions relating to life at Tecumseh during the 70's or general 70's trivial.  Be sure to check it out and take the test.  You must enter your name or your score will not be recorded.  Each week, the persons with the highest percentage of correct answers will be recognized.  This page has proven to be a lot of fun and should provide you with a few minutes of entertainment each week as you sweep the cobwebs off the old grey matter and see what you actually remember about those days, so long ago.

We would also appreciate any trivia submissions that you can help us with.  If you can come up with a question or a number of questions that we can use on our website, we would love to have them.  Please send your questions to us at
Scott@Tecumsehreunion.com and they will be added to our list of potential questions and will be used randomly.  It is important that we have your input on this as our executive has only limited knowledge on some things, but you are the experts on life at Tecumseh during the 70's!  PLEASE HELP US!!

We are looking for sponsors to help offset some of the costs of the reunion.  If you are able, or you know of anyone who may be able to donate goods or services toward raffles, silent auctions etc, we would love to hear from you.  Anything that we can to to reduce our costs of hosting this reunion will help tremendously!  We plan of having raffles and door prizes at the reunion.  This generates a lot of interest and participation, and will also help to offset some of our costs.

Finally, we have added two people to our organizing committee - actually, we have one new person and one person returning to the committee.  We would like to welcome the following people:

Audrey McDonough (Pupulin) - Class of 76

Dr. David Colby - Class of 1973
I hope you can get excited about this and we really hope that you will participate and encourage others that you know to participate.  A reunion is a tremendous amount of work to put together and the measure of success is in participation.

I would like to think that the efforts of those who will go to the effort of putting this together for you will be rewarded by at least your attendance if nothing else.  We were a group of kids that grew up together.  We went our separate ways and many of us lost contact with each other, but I know that there has to be a place in your heart that can take you back to some happy memories of those times at Tecumseh, whether it was the Tea Dances, Football or Basketball games, Red Feather activities or just hanging in the Grad Room!

All the best!
